About me

I'm an Assistant Professor in the Human-Centered Computing department in the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

I study how social computing technology can empower people to help each other with their health and wellness. I design pervasive technologies to encourage and enable new forms of social support online and offline, and I work with youth as participants to shape both the technical systems and in-the-wild deployments.

I hold a PhD in Human-Centered Computing from Georgia Tech, an MS in Human-Computer Interaction also from Georgia Tech, and a BA in Cognitive Science from Occidental College.

From 2014-2016, I was a National Library of Medicine Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Washington Biomedical & Health Informatics Division, where I worked with Professor Wanda Pratt and the iMed Research Group.

Podcast

In Computing Across Disciplines, I talk to researchers and thinkers who are pushing the boundaries of what it means to do computing research. They share their experiences, the lessons they’ve learned, and their own vision for the future of computing. New episodes posted monthly!
